Reconciliation and justice are being pursued via the Special Court for Sierra Leone and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The Commission has attempted to provide an accurate historical record of the conflict and to reconcile victims and perpetrators. The Court is prosecuting individuals for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The Court and the Commission are perceived by the Sierra Leoneans as important to peace in their country but how successful have they been?
