NAI at CODESRIA’s 12th General Assembly, 7-12 Dec.
CODESRIA is holding its General Assembly in Yaoundé, Cameroon 7-12 December. The theme is “Governing the African Public Sphere”. Director Carin Norberg, research director Fantu Cheru, programme co-ordinator Cyril Obi as well as former programme co-ordinator Yenkong Ngangjoh Hodu will participate in the assembly. NAI at the ASA Annual Meeting in Chicago
The US African Studies Association (ASA) will hold its 50th Annual Meeting in Chicago on November 13-16, 2008. The title for the meeting is "Knowledge of Africa: The Next Fifty Years”. Research Director Fantu Cheru participates in the meeting and will be in the panel of a “special session” on Friday 14 Nov., sponsored by the ASA Board of Directors. The theme for the session is: “Development in Africa: What is the Cutting Edge in Thinking and Policy?”. Read more about the ASA Annual Meeting. Books and scholarly papers published by the NAI will be presented in NAI's North American distributor's Stylus stand.
 
Cyril Obi presents paper in New Delhi
Programme co-ordinator Cyril Obi is in India 20-21 November to present a paper on 'Engaging with a Resurgent Africa' on a conference arranged by Observer Research Foundation (ORF) in New Delhi.
 
Guest writer in Denmark, 9-10 October 2008
NAI's guest writer, Tolu Ogunlesi, visits Denmark. On 8 Oct, he visits Roskilde University, where a seminar on Nollywood and nigerian writing is organised. On 9 Oct, he participates in a workshop during the Nordic Africa Days: ‘City Culture, New Culture, Whose Culture?’
Göteborg Book Fair, Sweden, 25-28 September 2008
The Nordic Africa Institute will participate in the fair with a stand at ‘Internationella Torget’ and several seminars. NAI's participation in the fair (in Swedish).
