January and February, Photo exhibition at Gustavianum in Uppsala, 'Suprastructure': Through their photographs from the million city Jos in central Nigeria, they here give a glimpse from their research on the meanings of infrastructure in everyday life. Photo exhibition by NAI-researchers Ulrika and Erik Trovalla.
22 January: Workshop on 'Institutions and Democratic Governance'
The workshop seeks to elaborate on the role of institutions and democratic governance within the post-2015 landscape. NAI's Acting Director and Cluster Leader Mats Hårsmar will moderate a table discussion on Public institutions and an enabling environment for the civil society. The workshop is arranged by the Swedish Foreign Ministry and Sida. Invited participants only. At Sida, Stockholm.
23 January: Seminar 'Child benefit fight poverty - Social Security, an issue for the global development goals beyond 2015'
With Armando Barrientos, Professor and Research Director at the Brooks World Poverty Institute, University of Manchester. 22 March: Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o and Binyavanga Wainaina in conversation with Stefan Helgesson, professor of English at Stockholm University
Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o and Binyavanga Wainaina, two leading Kenyan writers from different generations, have both recently published their memoirs. In this seminar they will discuss both the past and the present in their country of birth. The seminar is co-organised with Uppsala Association of International Affairs and Norstedts. 3 p.m. at Uppsala public library (Stadsbiblioteket), Svartbäcksgatan 17. The seminar language is English.

18 April: Claude Ake Memorial Lecture with Dr. Pamela Mbabazi
'Oil in Uganda: A Blessing in Disguise or an all too Familiar Curse?'
Dr. Pamela Mbabazi is an Associate Professor of Development Studies at Mbarara University of Science & Technology in Uganda and currently the Deputy Vice Chancellor.

15 May: Francis Matambalya lectures at Linköping university
NAI researcher Francis Matambalya will give a lecture at Linköping university, arranged by the Student Association of foreign Affairs, on the theme “Economic growth, socio-economic exclusion, urbanization, and slumisation: an inquiry in Africa´s development contradictions.
16 May: Afternoon seminar on Angola´s natural resources – a curse or a blessing?
