The Nordic Africa Institute's library is open to everyone. If you are considering making use of our materials and facilities we recommend you to register as a member of the library by applying for a library card.
NB! For persons under 16 years of age, please make use of the special application form below. (In Swedish). Do not forget to read through the library loan rules first.
Those living outside Uppsala can borrow material from us through interlibrary loans. Contact your local library for more information. To check our holdings you can search our catalogue, AfricaLit, which is available through our home page.
Registration / A library card is necessary in order to:
- Borrow books from us.
- Reserve material through AfricaLit, which is currently out on loan.
- Order from the stacks.
- Use our Internet computers.
Registration / A library card is NOT necessary in order to:
- Search our catalogue, AfricaLit.
- Order interlibrary loans from your local library.
- Use free resources available through our home page such as databases and electronic journals (which in certain instances can only be used on the Uppsala University campus).

NOTE! You will be required to sign your application form when you collect your new library card. You are thereby bound to acquaint yourself with and to abide by the library's rules and regulations. This is also authorization for your name to be registered in the library users' register, i.e. by signing you agree that your name will be registered.
