Africa Rising? Whose Africa?

"By 2050 a quarter of the world will be African and by the end of the century half the young people in the world will live on our continent. This demographic dividend could place Africa at the centre of the global economy. The strategic use of our natural assets: a third of the mineral wealth of the planet, nearly two thirds of its remaining arable land, a fifth of the global land mass and about 15 % of its forests could be the engine of a new global growth path." This writes Jay Naidoo in an article at NAI Forum (opens in new window).

Jay Naidoo is Chair of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Partnership Council of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN); founding General Secretary of Cosatu and former Minister in the Mandela Government.

The NAI library has a selection of Cosatu-related material: various uncatalogued documents, pamphlets, brochures, periodica, essays etc. in English and Swedish (opens in new window).
