NAI - FOI cooperation

Lecture Series on African Security

The Nordic Africa Institute (NAI) and the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) has entered into a framework agreement on research cooperation and capacity building in African studies.

Among the main themes and contents of the collaboration were the continuation of a joint lecture series initiated in 2008 on African Security, mutual support in quality reviews, information exchange and mediation of contacts and competencies from the respective organisation’s networks. The agreement for collaboration between the two institutions during the period of 2009-2010 had the main objective of establishing a solid base for cooperation and capacity building in Africa-related research on peace and security issues.

A new agreement has been signed which concerns FOI-NAI thematic lectures series on African Security during 2011. The primary aim of the lecture series is to provide the FOI Studies on African Security team an opportunity to broaden and strengthen the FOI's knowledge on the relevant conditions and factors for security studies in an African context.
