Network activities

The first workshop in the Nordic Network for Media, Communication and Popular Culture in Africa was held in Uppsala in June 2006. Report from the workshop.

Activities planned for 2007

The network will arrange a workshop under the Nordic Africa Days 2007, 5–7 October 2007. The workshop theme is ‘Restrictions and Possibilities. The Media in Discourses of Migration, Citizenship and Belonging in Africa’. Deadline for abstract submission is 16 March 2007. Call for papers. Participants are encouraged to attend the bi-annual Nordic conference of media research to be held in Helsinki, Finland on 16–19 August 2007. In particular, the working group number 1, ‘Media and Global Cultures’ accepts paper abstracts from network members. Call for papers at the University of Tampere website. The network organises a working group on Communication and HIV/AIDS at the IAMCR conference to be held in Paris, 23–25 July 2007 (call for papers deadline was 15 February). If you have further questions, please contact Thomas Tufte (ttufte@ruc.dk).
