Måns Fellesson has a PhD in Sociology from Uppsala University and a MA in Sociology from Umeå University. With a preserved overall focus on policy related developments and implications he has gradually moved from studying forced migration politics in an East African context to the study of policy and practice in higher education and research systems in Africa. Areas of particular interest are institutional and individual outcomes of different types of political steering of research and higher education. Linked to this, research interest also concerns academic mobility and career development. Currently he divides his time between research at NAI and a position at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, department of development policy where he his responsible for policy development in research, education and migration in the Swedish development co-operation. He has also a background as deputy secretary of the Expert Group on Development Issues, EGDI, at the MFA and working with research co-operations at Sida.
