African Guest Researchers’ Scholarship Programme 2010

The Nordic Africa Institute has awarded the following scholarships for 2010:
Professor Gessesse Dessie, Wondo Genet College of Forestry and Natural Resources, Shashamene, Ethiopia, within the research cluster Agrarian Change, Property and Resources. The title of his current research project is ‘‘Cash-crop-induced landscape dynamics, livelihood and social capital: The case of Khat (Catha edulis) in Ethiopia”. February–April.
Professor Johan Jacobs, English Studies, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa, within the research cluster Globalization, Trade and Regional Integration. The title of his current research project is ‘‘Diasporic Identities in Contemporary South African Fiction”. Mid-March–mid-June.
Ms Florence Odora Adong, UN-OHCHR: ESCR/Conflict Recovery, Kampala, Uganda, within the research cluster Conflict, Displacement and Transformation. The title of her current research project is ‘‘The Dilemma of Peace Building and Economic Makeover in Northern Uganda: Facing the Ghost of a Violent Past”. September –November.
