Researcher: Victor Adetula
Project started in November, 2015

This research is investigating the immediate and remote causes of violent conflicts in West Africa since the third wave of democratization; their structures, dynamics and implications for economic development and democratic stability.  The project is adopting interdisciplinary approach that will promote a more holistic analysis of trends and patterns of political violence in West Africa, and it is also expected to culminate in a publication.    Other outcomes include contribution to peace and conflict management theories and methodologies, extensive data on the various forms of political violence in West Africa, and exemplary basis for future assessment of the control of violent political conflicts in the sub-region.
